Is It A Title Company’s Responsibility To Obtain Proof Of Property Lines Before The Purchase Of A Home?

There is no requirement that land be surveyed prior to purchasing land. Whether you have a title insurance claim will depend on the type of policy. But if there was no survey required when you bought the land, you probably have a standard title insurance policy.

You may want to talk to an attorney about a possible adverse possession claim, and maybe at the same time take a quick look at your title insurance policy.
